Varian Minuteman Turbo-V70D Dry Pumping System

We verified that the forepump is pulling a ultimate vacuum of 470mTorr, which meets specs. The system was able to reach 2.5x10^(-4) torr after 5 min of running but the vacuum could not go much lower. The turbo pump ran up to and maintained 75 KRPM. Given the turbo pump may be 20+ old, rubber seals may start to deteriorate. It may require a turbo pump rebuild or baking to achieve better vacuum.
