The Pelco SC-7 is a sputtercoater unit designed to deposit a continuous conductive metal film on the top surface of the samples. The fixed stage can accommodate up to 12 SEM stubs. The target can be replaced with various 60mm metal (or carbon) discs. A gold target can be provided for a minimal fee. The working distance and the deposition time are adjustable.

Technical Notes

We visually inspected the condition of the sealing o-ring and the glass chamber, and all appear to be in excellent condition. Argon was connected as the working gas. A Pfeiffer DUO 2.5 pump was used as the vacuum source. The chamber pumps down reasonably quickly. All the buttons and adjustment knobs are working. We performed a manual coating run with a gold target, and a uniform, percolating gold film was formed on a piece of glass slide. See video for details
